If you’ve never white water rafted before, you probably have a few questions about the experience. Here are a few simple dos and don’ts for your trip with Raft Outdoor Adventures:
Your clothing needs will vary based on the weather, but you should always be ready to get wet! We require secure footwear: tennis shoes, water shoes (available for purchase in our gift shop), or sandals with a heel strap. Wetsuit rentals are also available!

Have a question about your rafting equipment, the Pigeon River, or the Gatlinburg area? That’s what our guides are here for. All of our staff are well-trained and well-versed in all things East Tennessee — and several of our employees were born and raised right here in these mountains. We love chatting with guests, hearing your stories and sharing our own.
White water rafting is fun and exciting, but it’s also a wonderful opportunity to kick back and relax. Our rafting trips usually last about 2 hours, so you’ll have plenty of time to breathe in the fresh, Smoky Mountain air and enjoy the scenery.
High-quality photos of you and your rafting party are available for purchase after your trip. You may have seen some of these photographs on TripAdvisor or our Facebook page. They’re an excellent way for you to remember your time here in the Smoky Mountains.
One thing’s for certain: when you go white water rafting, you’re going to get wet!
Though we sell protective, waterproof pouches for your phones in our gift shop, we strongly recommend you leave your electronic devices in your car or back at our headquarters.
That being said, if you’re interested in filming your trip with a GoPro camera, we have a few helmets with the appropriate attachment.
Just speak to one of our guides, and we’ll get you set up!
It’s never too early to make a reservation on the Pigeon River!
