  • Step 1: Arrive

    Step 1: Arrive and Check In

    Drive to our beautiful location in Hartford, TN, just .25 miles from I-40 on the Pigeon River. After parking, you and your group will check-in at the main office. Safety waivers will be filled out for each and every member of your party — both children and adults.

    To speed up the process you can print and complete your safety waiver form and have it ready when you arrive.

  • Step 2: Prepare for Rafting

    Step 2: Prepare for Rafting

    Before your trip, you'll have an opportunity to change into your rafting clothes at our facility. Be sure to bring the proper footwear and a change of dry clothes. We sell river shoes in the gift shop if you need to purchase a pair.

  • Step 3: Receive your equipment

    A PFD (Personal Floation Device), a helmet, and a paddle — we'll get you suited up and ready to go.

    Note: we're very proud of our high-quality rafting equipment and ask that all of our guests help take care of them.

  • Step 4: Learn the Ropes

    Step 4: Learn the Ropes

    You will all then listen and participate in our trip talk that covers all the “how-to’s” while you’re on the water. We make the talk entertaining, but it covers serious material that you will be required to know for your whitewater rafting experience.

  • Step 5: Ride to the River

    All aboard the magic bus!

    We're located just a short, 6-mile drive from the Pigeon River's launch point. Our guides will keep the ride fun and entertaining. Trust us.

  • Step 6: Start Rafting

    Step 6: Start Rafting

    Once your guides get you situated in the boats, it's go-time, baby.

    If you're on the Upper Pigeon River, you'll raft through exciting Class III and IV rapids.

    For those of you on the Lower Pigeon River, you'll enjoy a fun, relaxing float trip. Plenty of splashing, swimming and fun for the whole family.

  • Step 7: Finish your trip

    Step 7: Finish your trip

    After a thrilling, 2-hour rafting trip, you'll end up at our outpost where your vehicle is waiting with nice, dry clothes.

    Change and then don’t forget to come in and see YOUR PHOTOS that were taken on the rafting trip! You will have the digital images with rights to reproduce. We also have great t-shirts, hats, and other souvenirs available for purchase.

We're conveniently located and easy to find!

You can use a navigation device but route from Gatlinburg will change slightly. We recommend that you follow our directions and avoid HWY 32.

Directions from Gatlinburg

Take HWY 321 North (light #3 in Gatlinburg) approx. 17 miles to stop sign. Turn LEFT at stop sign to remain on HWY 321 North. Go approx. 1.8 miles and turn RIGHT onto the Foothills Parkway. Then take I-40 East to Exit #447. Exit 447, turn LEFT at stop sign, go straight 400 yards to bridge on right. Cross over bridge (Trail Hollow Road), turn left after bridge and go 400 yards to Ourdoor Rafting Adventures on your right.

Directions from Pigeon Forge

Turn at light #8 onto “Dollywood Lane”. Will turn into Veterans Blvd. Go 6 miles and turn RIGHT onto HWY 411 North. Go 20 miles to Newport and take I-40 East to exit 447 “Hartford”. Turn Left at stop sign, go straight 400 yards to bridge on right. Cross over bridge (Trail Hollow Road), turn left after bridge and go 400 yards to Ourdoor Rafting Adventures on your right.

Directions from Sevierville

Take I-40 East East to Exit #447. Exit 447, make a left at stop sign, go straight 400 yards to bridge on right. Cross over bridge (Trail Hollow Road), turn left after bridge and go 400 yards to Ourdoor Rafting Adventures on your right.

If traveling I-40 West

Exit #447, turn left at stop sign, go 200 yards to next stop sign, turn left. Go 200 yards to bridge on right, cross over bridge, then turn left and go 400 yards to Ourdoor Rafting Adventures on right.

What to Wear on Your White Water Rafting Trip

Your needs will vary based on the weather, but you should always be prepared to get wet! We require secure footwear such as tennis shoes, water shoes, or sandals with a secure heel strap. Note: wetsuit rentals are available!

When traveling with a group be it from church, work, family or friends, it is important to keep a close eye on expenses and time. We want to help you make the most of both during your vacation in the Smoky Mountains.

Groups of 15 or more receive extended discounts on white water water rafting trips. We will also assign a concierge to your account to advice on lodging options, help negotiation the best rate for your group at other attractions, and be a tremendous resource for the best places to eat.

Change and Cancellation Policy

Outdoor Adventures wants your business, and wants you to feel confident reserving a trip with us, whether it be via phone or online—that’s why we offer one of the most flexible change/cancellation policies in the industry.

Our Change and Cancellation policy is based on how long before your reservation you opt to change or cancel. If you have a change or cancellation request, you may make it by phone at 423-487-2085, or by email at info@raftoutdooradventures.com.

Groups of 14 or less:

10 days or more before your trip, you may:

  • Reschedule your trip for another day or time
  • Cancel and request a voucher (no expiration) for one or more of the rafters in your group for use at a later date.
  • Cancel and have your credit card or PayPal account refunded 100% of the price for one or more of the rafters.

Between 2-10 before your trip, you may:

  • Reschedule your trip for another day or time.
  • Cancel and request a voucher (no expiration) for one or more of the rafters in your group for use at a later date.
  • Cancel and have your credit card or PayPal account refunded 50% of the price for one or more of the rafters.

Less than 48 hours before your trip, you may:

No changes may be made, and no refund will be given.Please understand that by this time, we have already arranged for equipment and guides for your group, and it is likely other customers were turned away because of your reservation. However, we understand that sometimes extenuating circumstances can occur. If some of your group must cancel due to an extenuating circumstance, please email a description of the circumstance to our river manager at info@outdooradv.net. On a case by case basis, the manager may offer to reschedule or provide vouchers for rafting on a future date if the situation justifies it. Unfortunately no credit card or cash refunds may be given less than 48 hours before your scheduled trip time regardless of the circumstances.

Groups of 15 or more:

14 days or more before your trip, you may:

  • Reschedule your trip for another day or time
  • Cancel and request a voucher (no expiration) for one or more of the rafters in your group for use at a later date.

  • Cancel and have your credit card or PayPal account refunded 50% of the price for one or more of the rafters.

Less than 7 days before your trip, you may:

No changes may be made, and no refund will be given.Please understand that by this time, we have already arranged for equipment and guides for your group, and it is likely other customers were turned away because of your reservation. However, we understand that sometimes extenuating circumstances can occur. If some of your group must cancel due to an extenuating circumstance, please email a description of the circumstance to our river manager at info@outdooradv.net. Safety is Our #1 Priority

IMPORTANT: A safety waiver must be signed by each participant looking to enjoy a rafting trip with us — both minors and adults. Please download, complete and bring one safety waiver form for each member of your party prior to your visit.

Rafting Safety Measures

  • We will provide you with a personal flotation device (PFD), helmet and paddle. You must provide proper footwear, which includes tennis shoes, water shoes, or sandals with a secure heel strap.
  • No drugs or alcoholic beverages are permitted. If we suspect you have consumed anything that will impair you before your trip, you will not be able to participate and will not get a refund.
  • A trip talk is given by the guides before the trip to explain to you the "what is" scenarios and the "how to's" to react. This is a necessary part of your day and you must listen and attend this talk.
