Smoky Mountain White Water Rafting | Lower Pigeon River Float Trip with Outdoor Adventures

Lower Pigeon River Family Rafting

Family Rafting on the Pigeon River

 Lower Pigeon River

The Pigeon River is conveniently located less than an hour from prime destinations in the Smokies such as Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Sevierville, Knoxville, and Asheville, NC. Visit our map page for directions to us. Spend an afternoon with us and you’ll love it!

Relax and cool off on this 2-hour guided rafting trip through the Smoky Mountains on a guided raft with your family. Minimum age is 3 years old and is perfect for people and families wanting to be near the water, but not yet ready for big whitewater. There are numerous opportunities to swim in flat water and to be introduced to beginning Class I, II, and III whitewater. This is a fun trip for everyone with safety as our number one goal. You do not need to know how to raft or swim. Your guide will entertain you and maneuver you through the rapids.

The starting point for the Lower section of the Pigeon River is at our outpost, where you will get your equipment and instructions and start your rafting adventure. You will enjoy about 2 hours of time on the river then have a 10 minute return bus ride.

This trip is a great way to spend your day on the water. If some of your group want to raft the Upper section, NO PROBLEM. We schedule all Lower trips to run at the same time as the Upper Section. You meet at the same place and you on the Lower/Milder section will return about 15 minutes after your friends on the Upper. Perfect time to change clothes and get ready for your evening plans.

The Pigeon River is a dam controlled river, therefore we have guaranteed days from Mid-May to Mid-September determined by Progress Energy. Typically, due to dam release, lower river trips are only available on guaranteed rafting days, which are:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday during rafting season.
  • Trip times are: 1:30pm, 3:30pm, and 5:00pm.

However, we will reserve lower trips on non-guaranteed days if we believe there is a good chance that there will be a dam release. Please check calendar to the right for availability.

Make Reservations Online or Call 866-333-RAFT. Don’t wait, take advantage of early bird deals and group discounts!
