This experience features numerous opportunities to swim in calm, flat water and will introduce your group to beginner-level Class I, II, and III white water. This trip is fun for everyone, regardless of age, and we take every step to ensure safety is our number one goal.
You do not need to know how to raft or swim for this trip, and we will provide a personal flotation device. Just bring your smiling face and be ready for a great time in the gorgeous Smoky Mountains!

Our highly trained guides know the Pigeon River extremely well, and they will always provide a charismatic, entertaining, and informational experience. We encourage you to ask any questions you have about the Pigeon River, Smoky Mountains, surrounding attractions, or rafting in general!
The starting point for the lower section of the Pigeon River is at our outpost, where you will get your equipment and instructions and start your rafting adventure. You will enjoy about 2 hours of time on the river, then have a 10 minute return bus ride back to the outpost.
Does someone in your group want to experience the Upper River Whitewater? No problem!
The Lower Pigeon River Float Trip is a great way to spend your day on the water, but we understand that some large groups will have folks that want to try the Upper Pigeon River Rafting Trip. To accommodate groups that would like to take on both trips, we make sure to schedule all Lower River trips to run at the same time as the Upper River trips.
The two different experiences will meet at the same place on the river, and you the Lower River group will return about 15 minutes after your friends on the Upper Section – the perfect amount of time to change clothes and organize your evening plans!
The water flow on the Pigeon River is controlled by a dam a few miles upstream of our launch area. During the summer months (Mid-May through Mid-September) The water releases The big class 3 and 4 flows on a schedule every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday with trips starting at 11:00am and going every hour until 5:00pm.
Spring and Fall Schedule
Spring and Fall rafting provides the opportunity to experience the river at a variety of water levels, the class rapids can be between a calm class 2 float to a thrilling class 4 trip. The levels change daily and we typically have trips departing 7 days a week.
