If you’ve never gone white water rafting before, you might be a little intimidated by all of the equipment. Don’t sweat it! Our friendly and well-trained guides will walk you through every step of the process.
Here’s a brief rundown of everything you’ll need to get on the river.
One of the most basic and most important piece of safety equipment. Before you do anything else, we’ll make sure you have a helmet that fits correctly. If needed, our guides will help you pick one out and properly strap it in. If you plan on recording your trip via GoPro, we have a few special helmets with the appropriate adaptor.
For both swimmers and nonswimmers, we require all of our guests to wear a PFD (personal flotation device), also called a life vest. Our guides will also help you strap in and ensure the vest fits you correctly.
The Pigeon River moves pretty quickly, but you’ll still need to paddle to control and steer your raft. Depending on your height, our guide will instruct you on how to find a paddle with the appropriate length. We’ll also discuss during our safety briefing how to correctly hold the paddle while you’re on the river.
We require secure footwear, including: tennis shoes, water shoes, or sandals with a secure heel strap. For safety reasons, flip flops are not allowed. If you have any questions, please speak to one of our guides, or shoot us a quick message our on our contact page.
